Motorcyclist Killed In Pinon Hills Crash After Striking Animal Identified As Victorville Man

PINON HILLS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Victorville man was killed Friday night after crashing his motorcycle along State Route 18 near Descanso Road in the Pinon Hills area, authorities said.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. on May 1, 2026. According to the California Highway Patrol, motorists called 911 after the rider struck an animal and was ejected from the motorcycle.

The rider, identified as Arturo Villanueva Rivera, a 39-year-old Victorville resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports indicated the rider was thrown from the motorcycle and found on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway. The motorcycle, described as yellow, was located further ahead in the roadway, indicating it continued traveling after the impact before coming to rest.

As emergency crews responded, authorities shut down both directions of State Route 18 to allow for medical aid and an investigation. The closure was described as a full shutdown of the highway.

The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
