Deputies Use Less-Lethal Force to Arrest DUI Suspect Following High-Speed Chase in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 56-year-old Hesperia man was arrested Thursday night after leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit through residential streets.
The incident occurred on July 3, 2025, at about 8:54 p.m., when Deputy Jaramillo, with the Hesperia Police Station, observed a white Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck run a stop sign near E Avenue and Lime Street.
Jaramillo initiated a traffic stop and initially made contact with the driver, identified as Nael Matti.
“Jaramillo believed Matti was possibly intoxicated,” according to a written statement from the Hesperia Police Department. However, before the deputy could complete a DUI investigation, Matti allegedly fled the stop at high speed.
Matti reached speeds over 100 miles per hour, ran multiple stop signs, and swerved across the roadway, endangering both himself and others, according to the release.
The pursuit ended when Matti eventually stopped but refused commands to exit his truck. Deputies used less-lethal beanbag rounds before successfully taking him into custody.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Matti was booked for felony evasion, driving under the influence, and on an outstanding warrant for a prior DUI and probation violation.
