APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Town of Apple Valley officials announced paving for the Yucca Loma Road widening project started on Thursday, August 15, 2024, and would last for two days.
During that time, the intersection of Yucca Loma and Apple Valley roads will temporarily operate as a four-way stop with flashing red lights. Officials anticipate minimal disruption, with no road closures expected during this phase.
Initiated in June, the project aims to reconstruct and expand Yucca Loma Road, doubling the through lanes from one to two in each direction between Apple Valley Road and Chateau Court.
The $1.5 million budget for this initiative is funded by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority’s Major Local Highway Program, along with contributions from the town’s traffic impact fee, sourced from developers and builders.
Increased traffic on Yucca Loma Road has been observed following the completion of Victorville’s Green Tree Expansion and Bridge project in May 2023, which established an additional east-west corridor between the two towns.
The project is unfolding in stages. Phase 2 will enhance the intersection of Yucca Loma and Rincon Road, which currently operates as an all-way stop. Phase 3 will involve further analysis and design to extend improvements from Rincon Road to Navajo Road/Outer Highway 18.
The final phases will be incorporated into Apple Valley’s Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget plan, ensuring continued development and traffic flow improvements in the area.
