Yermo Man Arrested After Robbing Three High Desert Gas Stations at Gunpoint Within 22 Minutes Along I-15

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Detectives have arrested a 34-year-old Yermo man accused of carrying out three armed gas station robberies within 22 minutes along the Interstate 15 corridor in Hesperia and Victorville.

James Dunham was identified as the suspect in the robberies, which began at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at a gas station in the 11400 block of Fashion Court in Hesperia.

According to the written statement, Dunham entered the store, walked to the back, and took two coffees from a refrigerator before approaching the clerk. Investigators said he displayed the grip of a black semi-automatic handgun and ordered the clerk to hand over all of the money from the cash register along with five packs of cigarettes. The clerk complied, and Dunham fled the business.

Authorities said Dunham allegedly committed two additional armed robberies just minutes later at gas stations in the 12900 block of Mariposa Road and the 16200 block of D Street in Victorville.

As previously reported by VVNG.com, the three armed robberies unfolded within a 22-minute span along the Interstate 15 corridor, prompting an intensive search for the suspect before detectives later identified Dunham as the alleged gunman.

Detectives from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station assumed the investigation and positively identified Dunham as the suspect. Through additional investigation, detectives located Dunham and his vehicle at his residence in Yermo.

With the assistance of the Hesperia Gang Enforcement Team, investigators served a search warrant at Dunham’s residence, where he was taken into custody and evidence related to the robberies was recovered, according to the written statement.

Dunham was booked at the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
