BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A wrong-way driver traveling at high speeds on northbound I-15 near Barstow Road/SR-247 prompted a swift response from California Highway Patrol units on Sunday evening.
The incident was first reported at approximately 8:01 p.m. on November 17, 2025, when several 911 callers stated a vehicle was heading southbound in the northbound lanes.
According to CHP traffic logs, witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a small, dark sedan traveling in the fast lane “at possibly 70 MPH,” with one reporting the car passed Lenwood Road and continued past Cane Street without slowing down.
“Vehicle is not slowing down possibly at 70 MPH in the fast lane,” stated one 911 caller, who also believed the driver was female.
Multiple units responded to the scene to initiate traffic breaks and assess the situation. At 8:08 p.m., a unit located the vehicle stopped in the center divider south of Lenwood Road and began making contact with the driver.
By 8:22 p.m., lanes were reported back open after the incident was cleared.
No injuries or collisions were reported in connection with the incident. The cause of the wrong-way driving and the condition of the driver were not immediately disclosed.
The incident remains under investigation by the Barstow-area California Highway Patrol station.
