Worker Killed in Accident at VVWR Upper Narrows Tunneling Site Identified

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): On June 24th at approximately 8:00 a.m. a contract worker from FoxFire Contractors Inc. lost his life due to an equipment malfunction at the VVWR (Victor Valley Wastewater
Reclamation) Upper Narrows tunneling site. The man, that is now identified as 38-year-old David Padilla from Pahrump Nevada was operating a 25-ton winch when the anchoring system failed.
According to the Coroner’s report, the winch and operator were catapulted across a shored pit causing fatal injuries to Padilla.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to this man’s family and his co-workers during this most difficult time,” said VVWRA General Manager Logan Olds.
This incident is being investigated by the Cal-OSHA, San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department (SBSD), and San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office.
