Woman’s Body Found in Victorville Desert Identified by Coroner’s

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com):  The San Bernardino Coroner’s Department has positively identified the body of a woman previously identified only as “Jane Doe”.

On Sunday, June 21, 2015 authorities were actively searching for 49-year-old Carol Edna Smith who had been reported as a critical missing person from a Victorville room and board facility.

After an hour of extensively searching the surrounding area, her body was located in the desert near Highway 395 and Dos Palmas.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Department, the woman went to Wal-Mart and never returned.

At this time, there is no information regarding her cause of death. Since there was no trauma to her body, foul play is not suspected.

The coroner’s office is waiting on toxicology and microscopic studies, which can take 4-6 months to determine the cause of death.
