ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Homicide Detail is investigating the discovery of a woman’s body found in a desert area Sunday afternoon.
Just after 5 pm on June 25, 2017, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the desert area west of Highway 395 about a mile north of Torosa Road.
“The (reporting party) advised he was shooting earlier and thinks he found a body near the old shooting range, (he) advised he was too shaken up to call at the time so he went home,” scanner traffic initially reported.
It’s unknown how long the reporting party waited before contacting police, but authorities were questioning a person at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“As of this time it’s a death investigation, but due to the circumstances, we are requesting the Homicide Detail to respond,” Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station Sergeant Vaccari told Victor Valley News.
A man’s body was found Saturday afternoon in Victorville. However, for that incident deputies did not request the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail Division to respond as no foul play was suspected in his death.
Officials said the woman’s body is believed to have been there for 24-48 hours.
This is a developing story and more information will be updated as it becomes available.
