Woman shot at and nearly carjacked after giving ride to a stranger in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A woman who picked up a stranger from a gas station was allegedly nearly carjacked and shot at twice.
On Saturday, January 11, 2020, at about 11:50 pm the female victim called police to report an assault with a weapon in the area of Kiowa Road and Verde Drive in Apple Valley.
The victim told officers she gave an unknown male a ride from the AMPM.
“At some point, the suspect pulled out a gun and ordered the victim to give him the keys and get out of the vehicle,” stated sheriff’s spokeswoman Jackie Alban. “When the victim refused, the suspect fired two rounds through the driver’s door.”
Alban said there are no suspect leads at this time.
