Woman killed in crash on Hook Blvd ID’d as Laura Garcia, 48, of Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. ( — Laura Garcia, 48, of Victorville, was identified as the woman killed in a crash near Brentwood Elementary School.

At about 2:00 pm., on September 5, 2019, Garcia was traveling westbound on Hook Blvd when her tan colored 2002 Lexus sedan was struck head-on by a black 2005 Jeep Cherokee that was traveling in the opposite direction and crossed over into her lane.

The driver side of Garcia’s Lexus was crushed by the impact and her vehicle was partially pushed off the roadway onto the sidewalk. The black Jeep had major front-end damage and came to a stop facing the wrong way in the no.2 lane of eastbound Hook blvd.

The impact caused Garcia to sustain fatal injuries and first responders pronounced her deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, 40-year-old Felipe Guzman, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the collision.

Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision and are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

The accident is under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Major Accident Investigation Team. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Victorville Police Department at 760-241-2911.
