APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) Authorities are investigating the death of a woman after her body was found in a dirt field Sunday afternoon.
“At 3:49 P.M., deputies responded to Central Road near Bear Valley Road for a report of dead female,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Cindy Bachman told Victor Valley News.
Witnesses told officials the female is known in the area for hanging out and drinking with local transients, but is not homeless herself, and was last seen purchasing alcohol from a local liquor store earlier in the day.
“She was a funny and very beautiful person, we all knew who she was, she just had a tough life… ,” stated Apple Valley resident Miranda Myers.
“It’s a hard life for some people, and sometimes we judge others without knowing their life and their struggles,” Myers said.
The Coroner responded to the location just after 6:30 p.m. to remove her body and to positively identify her.
Authorities at the scene say foul play is not suspected, and according to Bachman, homicide detectives will not be responding.
Temperatures in Apple Valley reached over 100 degrees, however It’s not immediately known if her death is heat-related at this time until an autopsy is performed.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), behaviors such as drinking alcohol may impair the body’s ability to regulate its temperature and inhibit perspiration, which may increase the chances of a heat-related illness or death.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
