LAS VEGAS-(VVNG.com): A mother of three was killed, seven were critically injured and thirty others were injured when a woman driving a 1996 Oldsmobile drove onto the sidewalk on the 3600 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on Sunday evening. The Miss Universe pageant just ended at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and resorts, when at about 6:37 p.m. the woman, identified as 24-year-old Lakeisha Holloway drove straight through the area of heavy pedestrian traffic.

Uninjured pedestrians banged on the windows of Holloway’s vehicle as she continued to mow through the crowd of pedestrians. The Oldsmobile with Oregon plates was not only occupied by Holloway, but also her 3-year-old daughter authorities said. Multiple witnesses stated, that the woman did not appear as though she had any intention of stopping the vehicle as she went onto the sidewalk hitting several people, coming back off of the sidewalk, and then allegedly speeding up to go back onto the sidewalk to hit more pedestrians.

The woman continued on, finally stopping a half-hour later at the Tuscany Suites parking lot where she left her three-year-old daughter in the car to inform a valet parking assistant that she hit some people with her car on the strip and she needed them to call 9-1-1. Holloway was suspected of being under the influence of a stimulant and taken into custody. Her and her daughter were reportedly in Las Vegas for about a week sleeping in her vehicle. TMZ reports said, Holloway was in Las Vegas for a modeling job.

Upon arrival of authorities and medical response, they located dozens of injured people on the sidewalks between Planet Hollywood, Paris and Bally’s. Police from the Las Vegas Metropolitan police department said that they believed the act to be intentional, but not believed to be an act of terrorism. During a Monday morning press conference, LVMPD Sheriff, Joe Lombardo said that it is not believed to be an act of terrorism, but they still have not been able to get a full background on the suspect to completely rule that out.

Clark County District Attorney Steven B. Wolfson said, that the current charges Holloway is expected to face include: one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, a “multitude” of attempted murder with a deadly weapon charges, child abuse and neglect, and felony leaving the scene of an accident. He also stated that additional charges may be considered after following-up on the condition of the hospitalized patients.

Police are still investigating the incident, viewing video footage from several in-area cameras as well as citizen videos. The victims were transported to four area hospitals the majority of those injured going to the two trauma centers, Sunrise Hospital and University Medical Center. Additional patients were transported to Spring Valley and Desert Springs Hospitals.
