Woman dies after crashing into training tower at a Victorville fire station

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Sheriff’s officials said a Victorville woman who crashed into a fire department training tower Wednesday night has died, officials said.

The driver, Valentina Smith, 47, was airlifted to a trauma center after her 2015 black Honda Accord slammed into the multi-story building used for firefighter training at Victorville Fire station 311 on Desert Knoll Drive.

A Mercy Air medical helicopter landed near the scene of the crash and airlifted Smith to a trauma center where despite life-saving measures she was pronounced deceased.

Based on preliminary information, deputies determined the Honda was driving through the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds parking lot and collided with the training tower.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy A. Ramos at (760)241-2911.
