Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI After Crashing Into Sheriff’s Patrol Unit in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 42-year-old Big Bear woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after authorities say she ran a stop sign and crashed into a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s patrol unit Monday night in Apple Valley.
The collision happened on April 6, 2026, at about 9:43 p.m. at Dale Evans Parkway and Corwin Road.
Officials said Sheila Dash was driving a gray Toyota RAV4 westbound on Corwin Road toward Dale Evans Parkway when she failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection at a high rate of speed.
Authorities said a sheriff’s sergeant was traveling southbound on Dale Evans Parkway through the intersection when Dash’s vehicle collided with the patrol unit.
Following the crash, Dash’s vehicle overturned. The sergeant was not injured.
During the investigation, Dash displayed signs and symptoms consistent with alcohol impairment, according to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Dash was transported to a local hospital for treatment. After receiving medical clearance, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
Investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Regional Major Accident Investigation Team responded and took over the investigation.
Corwin Road between Dale Evans Parkway and Waalew Road was closed for about three and a half hours while investigators processed the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
