Woman arrested after taking 35-cent Slim Jim from AMPM in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A homeless woman in Apple Valley accused of taking a 35-cent Slim Jim was arrested, officials said.
It happened on October 15, 2019, at the AMPM in the 15300 block of Rancherias Road in Apple Valley.
Just before 2:00 am, the suspect, 24-year-old Shakera Tajahnay Withers, entered the business and took the 35-cent item without paying for it.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jackie Alban told VVNG, a citizen arrest form was signed and Withers was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
“She tried to get violent with two employees and she tried to steal a lot more than a 35 cent slim Jim,” an employee who wished to remain unnamed told VVNG. “She is a continual nuisance to the store.”
According to public arrest records, Withers is currently being held on a $5,000 bail and is charged with PC459.5 Shoplifting and PC853.6(I)(8) Refusing to Sign Notice to Appear.
She is scheduled to appear for preliminary arraignment inside a Victorville courtroom on October 17th.
