VICTORVILLE:(VVNG.com)- A 28-year-old Hesperia woman is behind bars after kidnapping a 3-year-old boy for several days.
On Friday, February 26, 2016, Deputy Ty Chamberlain from the Victorville Police Department responded to the reported kidnapping. Upon arriving at the location, the father of a 3-year-old boy stated his son had been taken from his home by Lakiba Marie Cox on February 25, 2016.
According to authorities, Cox, who is a friend of the victim’s parents, showed up at the home when the father was away and told the victim’s caregiver that she was taking the child to the store and would return soon. After failed attempts to have the suspect return the child, the parents contacted the police.
Deputies located the suspect and child at a residence in Hesperia early the following morning. The child appeared to be unharmed and was safely returned to his father.
Cox was taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for kidnapping. Cox is currently being held on a $250,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment later today.
