BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) A 48-year-old woman from Chino, CA was killed in a rollover crash along the I-15 Wednesday night and officials say alcohol was a factor.

On December 27, at approximately 9:15 pm, the unidentified woman was driving a 2003 Dodge Dakota, at an unknown speed, southbound on I-15, just south of Field Rd.

“For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the Dodge subsequently allowing it to enter the dirt median, where the Dodge overturned several times,” stated a news release from the California Highway Patrol.

After the collision, passing motorist and emergency personnel arrived on scene and provided medical treatment to the driver of the Dodge.

According to scanner traffic, the female was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was transported, by ground ambulance to Barstow Community Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

During the collision sequence, flying debris from the Dodge struck a passing Hyundai traveling on northbound I-15, causing property damage only.

CHP officials said, “alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this collision.” This collision is currently under investigation by the Barstow CHP.

The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
