Winter 2014 Citizens Academy

Apple Valley and Hesperia Sheriff’s Stations will be hosting the Winter 2014 Citizens Academy at the Town of Apple Valley Conference Center. The academy objective is to provide citizens with useful information that will assist them in making their home, neighborhood and community a safer place to live and work.
The academy will be comprised of the following topics:
- Department overview and history
- Introduction to law and citations
- How a 911 call is processed and prioritized
- How to recognize and report a suspicious person or vehicle
- Being a good witness-how to be the eyes and ears for law enforcement
- Target hardening-burglary and crime prevention techniques
- Drug recognition
- Gang Recognition, graffiti and fraud Activities
- Tour of dispatch
- Lifting latent prints
The academy will take place on the 4th and 5th of February from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. both nights.
