COLTON, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Colton resident suspected in a string of vehicle thefts involving a white tow truck has been arrested, authorities announced.
Andy Joel Bonilla, 30, was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, January 22, 2026, following the service of a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Ellen Street in Colton, according to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators with the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT) and the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department collaborated on the arrest. Bonilla was identified as a suspect after a series of thefts across the county that utilized a white tow truck to remove vehicles.
Authorities said “a large number of stolen vehicles and components were located” at the scene, along with evidence suggesting that Bonilla may be connected to thefts outside San Bernardino County.
Detectives believe Bonilla did not act alone and that other suspects may have conspired with him in the operation. They are asking for the public’s help.
