DUI crash closes Bear Valley Road Tuesday morning

VICTORVILLE, Calif. ( — An early morning crash closed down westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on Bear Valley Road between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.

“Jeremy Hernandez, a 28-year old Apple Valley resident, was traveling north on Bear Valley Road when his 2005 Jeep left the roadway and collided with a power pole,” Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said.

“Taniya Rocha, the passenger, sustained abrasions and bruising and complained of pain to her chest. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Hernandez was also transported to a local hospital to be evaluated,” Rodriguez said.

The results of a blood alcohol test performed on Hernandez determined he was operating the vehicle with a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit of .08%.

He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for driving under the influence, causing bodily injury.

As of 9:55 a.m., the blue Jeep that crashed into the utility pole remained at the scene in the dirt field with front end damage.

Southern California Edison crews are in the process of replacing and repairing the shredded wood pole.
