Week 2 of Used Car Giveaway 18: No Social Media Required

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — On Monday, after 749 Facebook shares, 18,000 views, 842 likes, and over 6,000 comments, 7 finalists were added to Valley Hi Toyota’s Used Car Giveaway 18 contest, for a total of 10, so far.

To qualify as a finalist all someone had to do was like the unveiling video and post comments for about a week. (Current contest is here.)

Brian and Toyota Todd went live on Facebook this Monday at 3pm to randomly select 5 comments, and 2 “I won a car” face contestants. “I really wanted to get a chatbot working so we gave people an opportunity for another chance by having them submit a photo of the face they would make if they won the van. We had so many great photos, we may just bring that portion back,” said Ortega.

The unorthodox and spontaneous contests are not without controversy. One comment in particular suggested that the Toyota dealership was false advertising that the winner of the 2004 Toyota Sienna would be announced on Monday. “I try to remind everyone that our contests usually last around 45-60 days,” continued Ortega. “Our intentions are to have everyone engage and follow our giveaway for the latest. The best way to do this is to turn on notifications and follow along. Something new is always happening.”

After the 10 finalists were announced, Ortega expressed that many people who want to compete are not on social media. “We totally understand that certain members of our audience do no wish to be on Facebook, or have the time to create and monitor accounts, that’s why this current week’s opportunity is filling out a form where email and phone numbers are your qualifications, no social media necessary.” Join the Valley Hi Toyota Friends Group for a list of the current finalists.

Following the trend, additional finalists will be announced on Monday, Tax Day, on Facebook Live at 3pm. Finalists will be notified via email, so there is no need to watch. “But we have such a great time going live and engaging with our fans and friends. It’s great to have some positivity in the High Desert,” said General Manager, Todd Stokes.

Valley Hi Toyota teamed up with Audiotistics in Victorville, where the local audio install business will donate an upgraded sound system. “Whoever wins is gonna have their own swagger wagon, especially with the DVD system already installed. It’s a pleasure to team up with Valley Hi Toyota,” said Audiotistics owner, Tim Wepprecht.
