I would like to announce and welcome you all to join us in the first ever VVNG “Pay it Forward Day” on Sunday, August 25th. I chose August 25th because it’s my birthday and one wish I have for my birthday is to see the community working towards a more positive future.
Unfortunately, it is too often that we as humans, get wrapped up in negativity. It really is no wonder because most of us are struggling with something, maybe a relationship, finances, work or one of many other things. If you take that along with being aware of the crimes that take place all around us, it can make you almost lose focus of some of the good things and good people that surround us. In order to pay it forward you do not have to possess anything special besides for the heart and willingness to give.
Why Pay it Forward?
There are many reasons why people participate in Paying it Forward, many are grateful for help or a gift they once received and they would like to share the joy or relief with someone else. Another reason to participate is that it encourages the person who receives your generous gift or gesture to one day Pay it Forward by doing the same for someone else.
Kindness can spread, lets work together to spread these positive, wonderful and kind gifts and/or gestures. This is aimed at helping to inspire random acts of kindness around the Victor Valley on Sunday, August 25, 2013 and beyond. Imagine the difference we can make together! One small act of kindness that cost so little money or energy for us, the giver, could bring a feeling of happiness to a person who really may have needed something to brighten up their day. Giving also gives a feeling of happiness to the giver, so when you give you also receive the great feeling of helping someone.
“Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.”― Booker T. Washington
You may wonder how you, as one person, maybe a person who does not even have a lot, can participate but we all can!
“If you wait until you can do everything for everybody, instead of something for somebody, you’ll end up not doing nothing for nobody.” – Malcom Bane
There are many things we can do including:
– Buying someone a cup of coffee, paying for their food, or paying for their gas – Help someone you know is in need – Help someone load their groceries in their car
– Offer to mow a neighbor’s lawn – Volunteer with a local charity or organization
It’s up to you! Be creative, have fun and enjoy! We want to encourage everyone to participate not only this day but I challenge you to work on making our community better every day!
“From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.” – Arthur Ashe
