Robert Stolar, 24, a resident of Victorville, is currently being held on a $50,000 bail after authorities say he assaulted a woman and attempted to steal her purse.

The alleged attack occurred just before 3:30 am, on July 3, 2017, in the area of Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.

The female victim, a woman in her early 30’s, was walking to work when a man on a “low rider” bicycle approached her.

“The suspect asked her for a cigarette and when she told him she did not have one he began grabbing her,” sheriff’s officials said.

“He grabbed my breast, groped me, and as he was still holding on to me we fell to the dirt,” said the victim who spoke exclusively with Victor Valley News.

“He was still on me touching me and I was fighting him off. He hit me in the face, and I hit him back,” stated the victim.

The assailant also attempted to steal the woman’s purse but she fought back and he eventually fled.

On July 6, 2017, at approximately 12:15 p.m., a woman contacted Sheriff’s Dispatch and stated she believed she may have seen the suspect behind some businesses on Bear Valley Road, near Amethyst Road.

“The caller said she had read about the attack on Victor Valley News Group and recalled the suspect was on a “low rider” bicycle, as was the man she had seen,” stated sheriff’s officials in a Friday evening press release.

Deputy Olivas responded to the location and detained Robert Stolar. The victim positively identified Stolar as the man who attacked her and attempted to rob her.

Stolar was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for attempted robbery, as well as several outstanding warrants. He is scheduled for arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on July 10, 2017.
