APPLE VALLEY:(VVNG.com)- Four new directors were welcomed to the governing board of the Victor Valley College Foundation this month and officially sworn into office during an evening hosted by Dr. Prem and Dr. Venkamma Reddy at their home. The annual Installation of Officers Ceremony celebrates the impact the Foundation’s leaders have on the organization’s success.
The newly elected directors include:
- Mike Nutter, Vice President of Sales, ISU Insurance Services – Armac Agency
- Logan Olds, General Manager, Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority
- Teri Ortega, Assistant Vice President, Desert Community Bank and President of the Adelanto Chamber of Commerce
- Sharon Rodriguez, Director/District Operations, Southwest Gas Corporation
The oath of office for the four newly elected and seven other re-elected members was administered by Judge John Tomberlin who expressed that participating in the ceremony was an honor.
“I am in awe of the commitment of so many people who give a lot of their time to help a great organization,” said Tomberlin. “It was an honor to share a little of my time to recognize them.”
With the appointment of the four new members, the Foundation’s board membership meets the organization’s maximum allowance of 33 directors. One third of these are elected each year. Nominations for new board members are welcome each year in April and all candidates participate in an orientation program prior to being considered for election. The slate of directors is recommended by a nominating committee and ratified by the currently seated members of the Foundation board.
Foundation officers traditionally serve two years and thus the existing executive leaders were re-installed to continue their roles through June 2015. Don Brown continues as President; Frank Robinson, Dawn Serbus, Eric Schmidt, and Caroll Yule will continue as Vice Presidents, Donna Wells will remain Treasurer and Val Christensen is still the Immediate Past President. Peter Allan, who served as an officer of the Foundation last year in his role as Victor Valley College
Interim Superintendent / President will continue to serve now as a Vice President as the Foundation welcomes Dr. Roger Wagner to the board.
Nearly 80 members of the community participated in the event to honor the Foundation’s leadership and celebrate the importance of supporting the college.
