Reminder: Active Shooter Exercise taking place TODAY on the campus of Victor Valley College.
Campus officials and local law enforcement will re-enact a drill involving a public mass shooting, in response to at least four public mass shootings that have occurred in the country in the last two years, according to a VVC news release.
The exact time of the exercise will not be disclosed in order to simulate a real-world scenario.
Once the exercise is underway students will be alerted via the Alertus Emergency Notification System and the Text Alert Message System. Staff and students are urged to review the college’s multi-colored Emergency Information Guide that is posted in every VVC classroom and building. Faculty, staff and students are expected to follow the procedures outlined in the “Lockdown” section of the Emergency Information Guide, specific to certain locations.
Remember this is only a test and once an “all clear” is given, everyone will be notified to return to regular duties.
