VVAPL Offers Licks For Life to Military Veterans

( Thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund, VVAPL Humane Society is offering FREE pet adoptions to military veterans. The program is called Licks For Life.

Vietnam Veteran Craig Lane sees the program as Priceless. “Pets to me are almost a must,” said Lane. “With my PTSD, they keep me on an even keel.”

Military veterans (proof required) can adopt either a dog four months and older or any age cat at no charge. Dog adoptions include vaccines, spay/neuter and a microchip. Cat adoptions include vaccines and spay/neuter. The program limits one pet per household.

For over 30 years, Disneyland Resort cast members have focused on providing meaningful service to their communities. VVAPL is extremely thankful to cast member Rachelle Allen for nominating the humane society to receive one of the many grants given to Southern California nonprofits. “This program has been on our wish list for several years, and now, thanks to the Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund, it’s a reality,” said Terry Saenz, Media & Community Relations Director.

VVAPL’s adoption center is open Tuesday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

VVAPL Humane Society is a nonprofit located at 21779 Zuni Road in Apple Valley. For more information about Licks For Life call 760/247-2102, visit to view animals, and like us on Facebook.
