On Monday, August 14, 2107, Captain Gregg Herbert of the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station and Susan Drake, Representative of First District County Supervisor Robert Lovingood, presented Volunteer Service Awards to a group of deserving, hard-working volunteers.
The volunteers, who are from various units assigned to the Victor Valley Station including the Victor Valley Reserve Unit, Wrightwood Search and Rescue, Victor Valley Search and Rescue, Apple Valley Posse and the Adelanto, Lucerne Valley, Silver Lakes, and Spring Valley Lake Citizen on Patrol Units have donated thousands of hours to the Sheriff’s Department and the community. Volunteers also received plaques for years of service to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Reserve Deputy Mark Ware, who is also a valued member of the Victor Valley Search and Rescue Team, received a plaque for his 25 years of dedicated service and Victor Valley Search and Rescue Member, Kenneth “ KC” Hart, received a plaque for 40 years of service.
Three members to receive awards for 15 years of service, John Rabiej, Dave Schollian and Bill Rinker, were previously volunteers with the Adelanto Police Department and continued their volunteer service with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department when the Sheriff’s Department took over law enforcement services for the City of Adelanto.
Two of the recipients to receive hours’ certificates were Joe Krager, Spring Valley Lake Citizen on Patrol member with a total of 20,000 hours and Tom Schneider with a total of 39,000 hours, who is a member of the Victor Valley Reserve Unit and the Victor Valley Search and Rescue Team.
We are proud of all the recipients and appreciate all their hard work and dedication in keeping the citizens of our community safe.
