Tonight the Mavericks welcome Vladimir Guerrero to Heritage Field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Vladimir Guerrero’s nephew Gabriel Guerrero is currently on the High Desert Mavericks roster and will be catching tonight’s first pitch.
Vladimir played professional baseball for 16 years. He was originally signed by the Montreal Expos as an amateur free agent in 1993 and made his debut at the age of 21 on September 19, 1996 with the Expos. He has played for the Expos, Angels, Rangers, and Orioles during his professional baseball career from 1996 to 2011. Guerrero finished his a career with a .318/.379/.553 line. His 2,590 career hits is a record for Dominican-born players. He had 449 homeruns in career. He also has a MVP award in addition to his nine All-Star appearances. Vladimir Guerrero will be eligible on the Hall of Fame ballot in 2017.
