CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A traffic collision on the northbound I-15 has prompted authorities to issue a SigAlert in the Cajon Pass here Wednesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, a crash involving a white Audi was reported at 11:56 am, in the no. 3 lane, north of Highway 138. The crash also involved a semi truck hauling garlic, per the logs.
For reasons still unknown, after the crash, the Audi was facing in the opposite direction of northbound traffic and the engine compartment erupted into flames. The occupant of the vehicle was able to get to safety and only one minor injury was reported.
As of 12:07 pm, the crash is currently blocking the no. 3, 4 and 5 lanes prompting officials to issue a SigAlert for 30 minutes to an hour.
Traffic is reported to be backed up for several miles and crawling through the pass.
The California Highway Patrol is handling the crash and investigation. Additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
