Victorville’s Cash For Grass is Back

VICTORVILLE: The ever-popular Cash for Grass Program was on a brief hiatus, but it is back as of February 1, 2014! The Cash for Grass program gives property owners the opportunity to convert grass into desert-adaptive and water-smart landscaping, and in return, receive a 50 cent per square foot rebate. Grass areas must be alive and maintained to be eligible for the rebate. Dirt areas or areas with weeds or dead grass are not eligible.
Conducted in partnership with the Mojave Water Agency through grant funding from The Department of Water Resources, the grass replacement program can help beautify the neighborhoods and businesses of Victorville, while conserving valuable water resources.
This program is first come, first serve, and is open to residences, businesses, non-profit organizations, and public agencies.
To qualify, Victorville Water District customers should pick up an application from Victorville City Hall (1st floor, Conservation Division), and mail or drop it off to the Conservation Division. A Water Conservation Specialist will then schedule a pre-inspection of the area to confirm eligibility.
For more information, Victorville Water District customers should contact the City of Victorville Water Conservation Division at 866-955-4H2O (4426), or stop by the Conservation Division at Victorville City Hall, 1st floor, 14343 Civic Drive, Victorville.
City Hall hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. City Hall is closed every Friday.
Customers of other water districts should contact their own local water districts to get applications for the program.
As of February 1st, Applications for Cash for Grass Program Are Available
