VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Lynn Cynthia DuenasLujan, a 51-year-old Victorville woman arrested last Friday after attempting to run over a security guard at Victor Valley Global Medical Center remains behind bars and pleaded not guilty to charges related to the incident.
On February 2, 2024, at 1:25 p.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a distress call from the medical center reporting that a woman driving a black Toyota Corolla had tried to run over a security guard near the emergency room before fleeing the scene.
Deputies, responding to the call, encountered DuenasLujan, who, upon their arrival, drove directly toward a deputy’s vehicle. DuenasLujan drove around the vehicle and fled the scene. Deputies attempted to stop her, but she failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued.
Sheriff’s officials said the suspect drove through the city and deputies performed a PIT maneuver near the Victorville Courthouse. The vehicle turned into the courthouse parking lot and became disabled.
Cellphone video of the incident was taken by a man who was in the parking lot fixing his flat tire.
In the video, you can see the female suspect refusing to exit from the vehicle as officers behind her shouted commands before deploying pepper balls. Several of the windows on the vehicle were shattered by the less-than-lethal rounds.
DuenasLujan could be seen coughing before eventually climbing out from the driver’s side window, exiting the vehicle, and being taken into custody without further incident.
DuenasLujan was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center, where she faces three charges: PC 245 (A)(1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Not a Firearm, PC 245 (C) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Not a Firearm/on a Police Officer, VC 2800.2 (A) – Evade Police with Disregard for Safety.
Recent public records indicate that DuenasLujan had a video arraignment hearing on February 7th, during which she entered a “Not Guilty” plea on all three counts. A Public Defender was appointed, and her bail was increased from $100,000 to $150,000.
Remaining in custody, DuenasLujan is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 13, 2024, in Victorville courtroom V10 at 8:30 am.
