Victorville woman celebrates 100th birthday

A Victorville woman celebrated a milestone on Monday by becoming a centenarian!
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com)— A Victorville woman celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday by eating at one of her favorite restaurants.
Reyes Chapparro was born on January 6, 1920, in San Antonio, Texas.
After moving from San Jose, in 1981 she moved to the Victor Valley and has called it her home ever since.
Reyes Chapparo has 5 daughters and 2 sons, and all of them are still living!
Jesse Hernandez, her grandson, told VVNG his grandma still cooks on her own and even does her own yard work. She also enjoys watching Novelas and eating Chinese and Mexican food.
Monday of this week was Reye’s special day and she requested to have lunch at the Corner Cafe in Victorville where she ordered her favorite turkey sandwich and fries.
Reyes older brother, “Corky” who was a long-time resident of Lucerne Valley, died at the age of 99. Corky’s real name was Catarino Hernandez. He and his five brothers, Benito Hernandez, Leonard Hernandez, George Hernandez, Manual Hernandez, John Hernandez were all Veterans who served in the Army, Air Force, Navy, and fought together in WW2.
Family and friends are planning a birthday party for Reyes this Saturday at her other favorite place, La Casita in Victorville.
Jesse said his grandma keeps very active and has a very good bloodline. “Her mother, my great grandmother Matilda, was 101 when she passed,” he stated.
“My grandma is a very religious Christian woman. Always strong in the faith with the Lord, she takes no medication at all and is completely healthy,” stated Jesse.
