Victorville Valentine’s Day Domestic Disturbance Turns Violent; Suspect Arrested After Pursuit
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 51-year-old Lancaster man was arrested Saturday after a Valentine’s Day domestic assault in Victorville.
Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Victorville Station, responded at approximately 12:57 p.m., February 14, 2026, to the 12000 block of Highgate Avenue in reference to an assault.
According to the written statement, deputies learned the suspect, Norman Johnson, assaulted the victim and caused serious injuries. Authorities also determined Johnson had an active no-bail parole violation warrant at the time of the incident.
Following the assault, Johnson fled the location in the victim’s vehicle, a black BMW X4.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., deputies located the BMW near Amargosa Road and Seneca Road and attempted a traffic stop. Johnson failed to yield and led deputies on an approximate 18-mile pursuit through the City of Victorville.
During the pursuit, Johnson “drove at high rates of speed, entered opposing lanes of traffic, and failed to stop for multiple stop signs and traffic signals, which created a significant danger to the public,” according to the written statement.
The pursuit concluded at approximately 1:31 p.m., near the 14700 block of Bear Valley Road, where deputies took Johnson into custody without further incident.
VVNG observed the black BMW X4 along the curb near the WSS shoe store, east of Mariposa Road. The SUV sustained significant damage, including a torn and partially detached rear bumper and heavy damage to the driver’s side rear quarter panel. The front driver’s side showed impact damage, and the driver’s side window was shattered with a large hole through the glass.
Officials said Johnson was transported to a local hospital for pre-booking medical clearance. Upon clearance, he will be booked at the High Desert Detention Center for the following charges:
- PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder
- PC 273.5(a) – Felony Spousal Abuse
