Victorville teen, 15, arrested after attempting to carjack a 71-year-old woman

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 15-year-old Victorville teen was arrested after he attempted to carjack a 71-year-old woman, officials said.

It happened on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at about 12:06 pm in the area of Zuni and Wanaque Roads in Apple Valley.

The victim, a 71-year-old woman, reported to police she was traveling on Zuni Road when she encountered several black male juveniles in the roadway, officials said.

“As she stopped her vehicle, one of the juveniles approached her driver side, putting a gun to her head and demanding she take them to Victorville. The victim did not comply, fled the area and called 911,” stated a sheriff’s news release.

Deputies, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s helicopter 40K, located and identified the male juvenile suspect.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was found to be on Juvenile Probation. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center for violation of PC 664/215, attempted carjacking.
