Victorville police find duffle bags with multiple stolen guns, 2 suspects arrested

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two men on active probation were arrested after a deputy spotted them walking with duffle bags containing multiple stolen guns, officials said.
The suspects identified as, Cody Ryce Mason, 26, and James Grippo, 31, both residents of Victorville, were arrested on July 2, 2019.
At about 2:50 pm, a Victorville sheriff’s deputy observed the two male subjects walking on 4th Street, each carrying a large green duffle bag, officials said.
“As he got closer to the men, they both dropped the bags and fled on foot. One of the bags was open at the top and rifle barrels were sticking out,” stated a sheriff’s news release.
Deputies responded to the location and both Mason and Grippo were located and detained.
“A total of six stolen firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered. Mason and Grippo were arrested and charged with felon in possession of firearms and prohibited person in possession of ammunition,” stated the release.
Officials said the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and consideration of further charges.
