Victorville police arrest homeless man who attempted to kidnap a 2-year-old girl

VICTORVILLE, Calif. ( — A 30-year-old homeless man was arrested after he attempted to kidnap a 2-year-old girl in Victorville.

It happened on April 3, 2019, outside the Victor Valley Global Medical Center at 15248 11th Street.

At about 11:16 am, the victim was standing in front of the hospital with her mother when the suspect, identified as Roger Gregory, approached them.

“He grabbed the victim’s hand and began to walk away. The victim’s mother was able to grab her daughter and enter the hospital, where she reported the incident to security,” stated a sheriff’s news release.

As deputies were responding to the hospital, Gregory fled and broke into a nearby residence, where deputies found him.

After a short struggle, Gregory was taken into custody, officials said.

He was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for kidnapping a child under 14, burglary, and resisting an executive officer. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on April 5, 2019.
