VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The Victorville Police Department is currently accepting applications for its Police and Fire Activity League (PFAL), a youth mentorship program designed to strengthen relationships between local youth and public safety professionals.
The PFAL program, originally launched in California in 1971, focuses on fostering trust and discipline through structured physical activities and positive role modeling.
According to a written statement from the Victorville Police Department, “the program is designed to be inclusive, supportive, and development focused,” and is open to local youth ages 12 to 17.
Participants in Victorville’s PFAL will receive training in boxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, helping them build physical fitness, self-confidence, and respect under the guidance of trained coaches and public safety professionals.
The program emphasizes “teamwork, goal-setting, and personal accountability while promoting healthy lifestyles and positive decision making,” the department stated.

No prior athletic experience is required. Interested parents and guardians can pick up an application in person at the Victorville Police Department’s front desk during regular business hours.
