Victorville man arrested for sexual assault on 12-year-old girl, more victims possible

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Lesean Dawayne Welch, a 22-year old Victorville resident, was arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl, officials said.

On February 17, 2020, deputies with the Victorville Police Department were requested to respond to a vehicle collision at Amargosa and La Mesa Roads. Callers reported multiple parties ran from the two vehicles involved.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned the driver of a tan SUV was following a 2002 Mitsubishi and the two vehicles collided. The driver of the SUV was discovered to be the parent of a 12-year old female who had been sexually assaulted by the driver of the Mitsubishi, later identified as Lesean Dawayne Welch. After the collision, Welch fled on foot and was located by deputies inside Chuck E. Cheese, where he was detained without incident,” stated a sheriff’s press release.

Welch was subsequently arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for lewd & lascivious acts with a child under 14.

Through further investigation, deputies learned of another possible victim. The other possible victim is a 12-year old female, whom is believed to be living in a vehicle with her family in the High Desert.

Investigators are asking anyone who may know the second victim or others who may be victims, to come forward with information as soon as possible. Welch is known to frequent Adelanto and Victorville and may have been driving a red or orange color, 2002 Mitsubishi sedan during the other crime(s).
