Victorville Man Arrested for Multiple Armed Robberies

( Police arrest a Victorville man in connection to multiple armed robberies to businesses through out several counties. On August 2, 2014 at 9:16 a.m., 35-year-old Giovanny Velasquez a resident of Victorville was arrested for armed robbery by Hesperia Detective Jarrod Burns and deputies of the Specialized Enforcement Division.

According to a press release, the arrest was a result of an extensive investigation by Detective Burns with assistance from other San Bernardino Sheriff’s department personnel. He determined Velasquez was responsible for fourteen (14) armed robberies throughout San Bernardino County and in the course of his investigation Detective Burns also linked the suspect to a total of twenty-three (23) armed robberies throughout San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange Counties.

Velasquez robbed three Hesperia businesses in June and July of this year. In each instance the suspect wore a disguise and displayed a black semi-automatic handgun. Following investigative leads Detective Burns identified Giovanny Vasquez as the assailant in all three robberies and apprehended him Saturday in the area of Mesquite and Sitting Bull in Apple Valley. Subsequently, search warrants were conducted at several locations including two residences and a vehicle owned by Velasquez. There deputies found and seized evidence connecting the suspect to multiple robberies.

Deputies discovered Velasquez was on active CDC Parole for PC212.5, residential robbery. He was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for PC211, armed robbery, with his bail set at $500,000 and a no bail hold for violation of the terms of his parole.

Additional charges against Velasquez are pending.
