Victorville Man Arrested for Attacking Female Roommate

VICTORVILLE, Calif :( A 54-year-old man is behind bars after physically attacking his female roommate with several objects.

On Sunday, July 24th at 3:17 p.m. dispatch received a report of shots fired in the 15000 block of Hesperia Road in Victorville.

When the deputy arrived at the residence he located a 49-year-old Victorville woman who had been assaulted by her roommate who was still at the location.

According to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez, the deputy determined the suspect, Edward Martin Curtis, a resident of Victorville had used at least two different objects to strike the woman in the head and face.

Curtis was also suffering from what appeared to be injuries he received from the victim, in self-defense.

Due to the victim’s injuries, she was transported to a local hospital. The suspect was also taken to a local hospital for his injuries and then arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon.

Curtis is currently being held in lieu of a $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in a Victorville courtroom Tuesday, July 26th at 12:30 pm.

Information received from the involved parties and other witnesses at the location, indicated that there had been three other men at the home earlier that day and one of the men had fired a gun inside the residence. The details surrounding the firing of the gun and the other men are not available, as this is still under investigation. There were no reports of any injuries as a result of gunfire.
