Victorville man arrested after driving wrong way on the I-15 freeway in a stolen U-Haul truck

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 37-year-old Victorville man was arrested after driving a stolen U-Haul truck the wrong way on the I-15 freeway.

On January 31, 2024, deputies responded to a local U-Haul business for a report of a stolen box truck taken between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at approximately 2:41 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station received an alert regarding the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Seventh Street and Forrest Avenue. Deputy A. Gutierrez located the stolen truck near Seventh Street and La Paz. 

Sheriff’s officials said the truck drove in opposite lanes of traffic and entered the 15 Freeway south using the north 15 Freeway off-ram, driving in opposing lanes of traffic.

Responding units located the stolen box truck parked on the 15 Freeway; south on-ramp, on Mojave Drive.

A witness observed the suspect, David Robert Sikora, run into a nearby convenience store. Deputies contacted Sikora and took him into custody.

Sikora was booked at High Desert Detention Center for V.C. 2800.2(A) – Evading Police, V.C. 10851(A) – Vehicle Theft, and P.C. 496D(A) – Possession of Stolen Vehicle.
