Victorville Golf Course to Remain Open Through December 2018

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – Officials from the City of Victorville recently met with the golf course management company, Sierra Golf to discuss the future of the Green Tree Golf Course.
“The purpose of this meeting was to explore options to keep the golf course open,” said City spokeswoman, Sue Jones. “At this time, the City doesn’t have budget authority to fund operations and maintenance costs for Victorville’s community golf course.”
The budget request came before the City Council last month, but due to two members having to recuse themselves from the vote; the budget failed to receive the necessary three affirmative votes. Mayor Garcia and Council Member Negrete voted in favor of the budget while Council Member Gomez voted against it.
“Litigation is something we are trying hard to avoid,” said Victorville Mayor, Gloria Garcia.
Because options are limited absent budget approval, Sierra Golf has decided to use its cash reserves to keep the golf course open through December 31, 2018.
