Victorville Deputy Crashes After Pursuing Burglary Suspect; 1 Suspect Outstanding

VICTORVILLE, Calif.(VVNG.com) An early morning pursuit with a vehicle involved in a burglary resulted in a sheriff’s patrol unit crashing.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at approximately 5:07 a.m. Deputies with the Victorville station were dispatched to a burglary alarm at the Queens Pharmacy in the 12600 block of Hesperia Road.

When deputies arrived they confirmed the door to the business had been pried opened and a vehicle was seen fleeing from the scene.

The suspect vehicle, a gray Land Rover, led deputies on a high-speed pursuit at speeds in excess of 100 MPH northbound on Hesperia Road.

As the patrol unit was attempting to turn with the curve in the road, the deputy lost control and overturned. The patrol SUV jumped the curb and landed on its roof in an empty dirt lot at the corner of Hesperia Road and Forrest Avenue.

According to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller, “the deputies were transported as a precaution and are being evaluated at a local hospital.”

The suspect vehicle was later ditched in front of a residence on the 15600 block of Inyo Street near Forrest Avenue in Victorville.

According to authorities two suspects were detained and a third foot bailed.

Deputies have established a perimeter in the area of Avalon and Inyo Streets and as of 9:00 a.m. the 3rd suspect remains outstanding.

Information will be updated as it becomes available.
