Victorville Councilwoman shares story of a family on a mission to spread Christmas joy

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) –Victorville City Councilwoman Debra Jones, shared a heart-warming story to the Victor Valley News Group about a recent encounter she had with a family on a purpose to deliver joy during the Christmas holiday.
Below is the councilwoman’s post:
Meet Michael the Elf, aka Leonard. With him are his other helpers, Sallie and Bobby. Yesterday outside the Victor Valley Mall, they were asking passersby whether they had been good this year. Why yes, my husband and I said as we chuckled. (We were particularly jolly because we found some free time to go on a date to the movies.) Now for the heartwarming part. These wonderful neighbors of ours handed us gift cards for a bite to eat in a local fast food restaurant. When we told him we would hand them along to others, he asked us to keep them for ourselves. After chatting for just a moment, we learned what a wonderful man Leonard is. You see, every year in honor of his son who, when he was young boy, slipped into a diabetic coma and consequently lost his ability to walk and talk, Leonard gives gifts to others from the abundance of his heart. He wants to spread joy with gift cards and plush toys. But I think he does it with his generosity of spirit. Leonard then gave us a supply of cards and plush toys, enlisting us to be his helpers. We handed the gifts out in his name, proudly telling families about Leonard and Sallie and Bobby . . . 3 unassuming strangers who truly are friends to us all.
