Victorville City winter watering hours in effect through May 2020

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Winter watering hours that began in October continue to remain in effect for Victorville City residents trough May 2020, officials said.
During this period, watering via automated sprinkler irrigation is permitted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on specified days: addresses ending in even numbers can water on Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Saturday, while addresses ending in odd numbers can run automated sprinklers on Wednesday, Friday, and/or Sunday. Drip irrigation, hand watering with a hose nozzle shut off, or brief sprinkler operation to check for leaks or maintenance are permitted any day of the week.
The automated sprinkler watering schedule is in place to conserve water and prevent water loss and ice hazards during the winter months. As winter approaches, evening temperatures will begin to drop. Temperatures may fall below freezing, and this can lead to hazardous ice conditions on sidewalks and streets due to water runoff.
Customers should also prepare their irrigation systems for winter to reduce the chance of frozen or cracked pipes. Customers can insulate outdoor faucets, above ground pipes, and hose bibs by using pre-formed foam covers or rags covered in plastic wrap.
Water Conservation Specialists are available to answer questions and concerns from residents and businesses about water conservation and high water usage. Free home visits are available to assist customers with irrigation timer programming.
For more information or to schedule a site visit, customers can call the Victorville Water District Water Conservation Division at (866) 955-4426.
