VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Today, the City of Victorville announced that in order to improve service and be more accessible to the community, City Hall will be open on Fridays beginning the week of July 15. The Victorville City Council approved the new operating hours during budget adoption last month.
“We are expanding operational hours to five days a week to improve customer service,” said Victorville Mayor, Gloria Garcia. “The new hours enable us to be more accessible in order to address the needs of our community.”
Friday closures at Victorville City Hall date back to approximately 2007, when City Hall was closed on alternating Fridays. In 2009, as a result of the economic impact of the Great Recession, City Hall was closed every Friday in order to cut costs.
In order to improve customer service and at the urging of the Victorville City Council, staff made it a priority to find the money to return to the five-day work week in this year’s budget. Despite the fact that revenue has not returned to the level before the Great Recession, the City is expanding service by further cutting spending and operating as lean as possible.
Victorville City Hall will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as of July 15. Hook Community Center will also be open on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Victorville City Library will continue to be open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Additional information regarding operational hours and services are available on the City’s website at VictorvilleCA.gov.
