VICTORVILLE, CA – High Desert residents interested in law related careers, can now begin their journey at Victor Valley College (VVC). The “Pathway to Law” program, provides students a guided pathway from VVC to eight of California’s top Universities and Law Schools: University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Santa Clara University, University of San Francisco, and UC Berkeley.
Designed by the California State Bar’s Council on Access and Fairness and the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, “Pathway to Law” establishes a pipeline of diverse students from high schools, community colleges, four-year institutions, and law schools into law or law-related careers so that the legal profession reflects the diverse population of the State of California.
In 2018, Victor Valley College was honored to be accepted into the innovative “Pathway to Law” program and is now one of 30 community colleges in the State that facilitates a smooth transition to law school or a law related career.
Former California Community College Chancellor, Brice W. Harris said of the program, “Students admitted into the program are assured they will receive the support they need to succeed and make the legal profession more diverse and the justice system more reflective of the State.”
Pathway students will receive individual advisement as they move through their chosen pathway and their transfer application fees for admission will be waived to participating universities and law schools.
This is an exciting time for our community. There are many opportunities in law right here in the High Desert, which provide financial security and propel students into rewarding careers. “Contributions and attention to the program by the Victor Valley College Foundation Board of Directors and their donors has played an integral part of our success here at VVC”, said Pathway to Law Program Director, Lynne Glickstein, Esq.
