Victim Identified in Highway 138 Death Investigation

(VVNG.com)- Detectives have released the identity of a homicide victim found at his car, on the side of the roadway, along Highway 138 east of Summit Valley Road.
Philip Alexander Smyth, 50 years old, was discovered around 5:00 A.M. July 6, 2014, after reports of a possible traffic collision were reported to authorities. San Bernardino County Fire personnel, California Highway Patrol, and Victor Valley Sheriff deputies responded to the scene.
The roadway was blocked into the afternoon as specialized investigators from San Bernardino County Sherriff’s Homicide Detail investigated the scene. Caltrans reopened both lanes of traffic by 4:45 P.M.
