Vehicle Crashes Into Signpost on Mariposa Road; Woman Severely Injured

Victorville, CA – A traffic collision on Mariposa Road in Victorville has left a female passenger with serious injuries, while the male driver escaped unscathed.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at around 12:01 p.m. near 12475 Mariposa Rd, between Monarch Boulevard and Cottonwood Avenue.

The vehicle involved, a white Lexus sedan, was reportedly driving at high speeds before it lost control, veered off the roadway, and careened through the landscaping of the Dunn-Edwards Paints parking lot.

It ultimately collided with a water main and a sign, causing a small fire to erupt in the engine compartment.

Bystanders, including employees from the nearby Dunn-Edwards Paint Shop, quickly intervened with fire extinguishers, preventing the flames from spreading until emergency services arrived.

The impact inflicted severe damage to the front end of the Lexus. Additionally, a parked vehicle nearby sustained minor damage from debris caused by the collision.

Victorville Fire Department responders immediately called for a helicopter to transport the injured female passenger to a trauma center.

The male driver of the Lexus is cooperating with the investigation led by the Victorville Police Department to determine the cause.

Victorville Public Works was requested to address the water main break caused by the accident.

Authorities have closed Mariposa Road’s northbound lanes for the investigation and cleanup, while the southbound direction remains open to traffic.
