The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department are investigating a vandalism that occurred at Victor Valley Church of Christ on the corner of Sycamore and Cobalt in Victorville. The incident happened sometime between late Saturday or early Sunday morning.
The person or person’s responsible for this senseless act, spray painted graffiti over many areas on the exterior of the church leaving major unsightly damages. Although the extent amount of damage has not been determined it’s expected to be in the thousands.
Members of the church are in disbelief and expressed how they felt via our facebook group VVNG. Annette Lopez posted,
“This is so disgusting! Why would anyone do this to a church of all places. They tagged all over the the windows, youth center, all sides of the church, and even the trees! The trees! I feel horrible for the congregation.”
Pauletta Hobson described how she felt when arriving for her usual Sunday service today,
“It was pretty heartbreaking for all of us when we arrived at church this morning. But mostly for children. Yesterday we put on a Halloween Carnival/ trick or treating for all the children in the community and our youth worked very hard doing it and then had to come in this morning to see that.”
Unfortunately, removal of the graffiti has to wait until insurance adjusters asses the value of the damages. Anyone with information is urged to call the Victorville Police Department by calling 760-245-4211. You may choose to remain anonymous.
